Excerpts From The Dust.
A Story, from a sprawling Universe created by a DM: Coden4m3: Dust - In another part of a Dust ravaged world…events took fold in a much different manner… Once a sprawling metropolis, Angoriath enjoyed the bliss of technology, innovation, ambition, prosperity, and, their most crowning achievement; Peace. An impossible mixture of blanketing Peace, in its most profound form, in body and soul, in Citizen, Noble, Peasant, Commoner, Politican, and Leader, and a thriving, healthy, ambition for more. From Head of State, to the Beggar on the street, all Individuals accepted their circumstances, yet despite their station, they not only lived in Divine splendor, of their own make and ability, but always, always, strove, hoped, and achieved more. The nobles strengthen their positions in court, enterprise, and relations with both ruthlessness and calm; an odd mixture that not only advanced their individual needs, desires, and wants, but also propelled their fellows and their nation ever
The tenant’s Muzak, a muffled shouting, indignant, accusatory, dissipated throughout the entryway of a weary building. There he stood at his door, staring blankly at the forms and shadows in the apartment. He relieved himself, then stumbled across the twilight to cabinet above the refrigerator. A glass bottle stood there, a thin layer of dust stuck to its curves, and now his fingers. And all of this, playing all of these stupid games, for this little bit to be mine. It’s small enough to fit in my pocket. “I thought she understood me…” he squeaked, then rocked back a shot of cheap vodka. It was akin to dragging his tongue across the floorboard of a railcar. “I’m such a lightweight…Drinks were a terrible idea, anyways.” His mind had spiraled on the metro ride home. His steeled body jarred and bounced between guardrail and corrugated wood until he found a seat, only to be plucked once again… Today was supposed to have been his day. He was to finally take his shot.
The Devil I know isn’t the Devil you do.
The Devil comes to me in the cold night air, whispers on the edges of awareness with temptations of eternal peace, of eternal rest.
The Devil offers me completeness and security, safety and stillness.
The Devil sends me good luck disguised as coincidences, a bright string of fortune weaving itself firmly into the tapestries of my life. They seem small and unconnected, a run of joyful happenstances that when greeted individually are seen as miracles; when glanced at together, it is clear to see that the rope around my neck is tightening with each offering.
The Devil offers a balm for the achin
"You're insufferable!"
"Well, it's not like you're much better!"
"Oh, what's that supposed to mean?!"
"It means you're a fucking asshole, that's what it means!"
Cheryl and Dep didn't fight a lot, but when they did, it was bad. It was never over anything petty, and usually, they'd resolve it within a few minutes, but that didn't make the pre-consolation bickering any better.
"You just go out all damn night, come home drunk, smelling like cheap ass perfume, and you expect me to sleep with you? Bah!"
Cheryl was laughing bitterly. If Katie hadn't known better, she'd think Cheryl was sobbing.
"I wouldn't touch you with a ten-inch pole. You

chapter 3 - ticket to the show
A woman like Carol didn't just curl up and die. This had to be some sort of trick, a game-- she was hiding somewhere. Victoria could practically feel that little pipsqueak's breath on the back of her neck. Oh, she'd get her alright, Victoria internally decided as she downed her fourth glass of alcohol, if it was the last thing she'd do!
"RENO! MARIA! JULIA! GET IN HERE!"
Three curvy, young girls scuttled into the dining room, tripping over themselves. The oldest of the trio, Maria, smoothed out her skirt and cleared her throat as the two other shuffled behind her. "Yes, Ma'am?" She said respectfully, a slight hint of exhaustion in her voice

chapter 2 - bit the dust
Evan tries to say something, but his tongue felt like a rag that'd been shoved inside his mouth to keep him quiet. Victoria giggled; "What's the matter, love? Cat got your tongue?"
Evan's mouth gaped like a fish out of water. For once in his life, he was at a complete loss for words. "Yo Ev, whose at the door?" Fred yelled from the kitchen, his thundering footsteps marking his arrival before he did. He seemed just as taken back as Evan when he saw their visitor. "I-- oh, wow..." Fred trailed off, "I, uh-- who, who might you be?"
Victoria smiled impatiently. "Madame Victoria. It's terribly cold out here, can't I come in?" She quipped, not e

So many words...
So much information...
The layers of noise were slowly becoming layers of knowledge. It was as if Lucas was listening to multiple lectures simultaneously. The longer he listened...the harder he listened...the more his brain recognized. He felt as if he were getting more intelligent.
No, intelligent wasn't the correct word. It was wisdom. It was Enlightenment.
Lucas' perception of the world around him was slowly changing as...yes...the world was a construct of physical matter vibrating at a specific frequency so there must certainly also be...yes...the calibration of said frequency could be
