Jun 25 - Jul 1 New Prompt! New Poll!

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 5, 2013, 2:34 AM

Thank you to all who participated in the prompt "My Silent Companion." Voting will be open for one week!

Would you like to suggest some prompts? Let us know! I am trolling (like fishing, not being a jerk) the internet daily for prompts now because my brain is out of juice. If you've got some notion running helter-skelter through your noggin or something you strongly feel would help writers then shout it out, it might just be our next prompt.

Current Prompt

Jun 25 - Jul 1

Practice Restraint

Write a scene for a story with two characters. One character has kept a secret from the other, and the other has recently discovered it, but not yet revealed their discovery. Have the characters engaged in an activity—shoveling out from a snowstorm, preparing for a party, looking for a lost ring. Use the dialogue and the action to express the tension between the two, without having them directly discuss the secret.
Thank you to "Poets & Writers" for supplying this prompt!

Night EyesThe golden eyes tied together work wonders. Dripping, dropping, crumbling down from the dirt up top.
The news is joking.
Life is too short to end now.
It is but one finger pull from beginning.
How will it go?
The eyes see the news, the echos fret in the mind,
but none of it gets recognition.
Where do we go if not here or the other?
Buzz. buzz.
the empty streets
fled when the world got rid of itself.
Where to begin?
Stupid! Stupid! Stupid religious people!
Don't begin unless the fiery monster tells you to since the lord you deemed so
deemed so only for the old, gone book told you so
didn't give you such permission to think for yourselves.
Eyes of steel crisp
They stole my eyes
Pretend you still possess them.
You will need them.
When the Sun comes.
You will see.
Not since my eyes were stolen.
It doesn't count.

Can I make it a person that is silent/treated as an inanimate object or does it have to be an inanimate object?

Sticking with just objects on this one. =D

Well at least it's not a 'write without using the letter e' prompt! :faint: That has been a NaPoWriMo challenge which was... really challenging. Yes. Because apparently e is the most used letter in the English language. I might give this a try, when my muse decides to give me a wink here. :plotting:

I know this is ridiculous, but I feel so exceptional for being the one. XD

Nevertheless this prompt sounds like fun and I possess one story in mind. ^_^
